At the meeting with Vladimir Putin, a student from South Ural State University Amina Akhmadulina raised an issue on industrial enterprises’ participation in the formation of a healthy generation of young engineers starting already from their university years. She believes that to achieve this, it is necessary to draw special attention to such collaboration at meetings held between our country’s leadership and representatives of big business companies.
A good example is the chess boxing hall that opened at SUSU with the support from KONAR group of companies and personally its head V.V. Bondarenko. The involvement of business yields excellent results already: the athletes training in this hall include the first Russian Chess Boxing World Champion, a two-times Silver Medal winner of the Chess Boxing World Championship, a 2023 Chess Boxing Champion of Russia, an Asian Chess Boxing Champion, and a 2023 Champion of the First World National Combat Games.
It is important to note that students combine their professional sports training with obtaining of their education in a variety of major programmes. Thus, Amina Akhmadulina will soon become a holder of Bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence.

Chess boxing is a hybrid type of combat sports that combines rounds of chess playing and boxing. Today, there exist two varieties of chess boxing: chess boxing and chessboxing-fit. In chess boxing, competition lasts for five rounds: three rounds of chess playing and two rounds of boxing. Each round lasts for 3 minutes. In chess playing, each chess boxer has an individual time of 4.5 minutes; and the total time of the game is 9 minutes. Between rounds a 1-minute time for rest is given. For the boxing rounds, the athletes step in the ring.
In 2007, a World Chess Boxing Organisation (WCBO) was established.
