South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni Took Part in Off-site Event

An off-site team-building event for activists of South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni, organised by the International Office and AO SZ “Yuzhuralstroyservis”, was held at the Chebarkul recreation centre April 13th through April 14th.

SUSU international students, from such countries as Uzbekistan, China, Iran, Tajikistan, Iraq, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and Kyrgyzstan, took part in the event. As part of the program, they learned about local attractions, tasted Arabic coffee, played sport games, and participated in a media contest.

SUSU Mathematicians Laid Flowers at Memorial Plaque of Abram Katsman on Anniversary of His Birth

On April 22nd, on the 108th anniversary of the birth of Abram Katsman, one of the first mathematicians of the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute who had worked at the university since 1943, those scientists and teachers, who know and remember him, who consider him their teacher, gathered at the memorial plaque in his memory (on the second floor of the eastern wing of the SUSU main building).

Students of SUSU Military Training Centre Are Preparing for Parade

Victory Day is approaching. A traditional military parade will be held in the central square of Chelyabinsk on May 9th. As usual, the staff of the SUSU Military Training Centre will take part in it.

Two "boxes" of students – students of the Centre led by officers – will solemnly march along the Revolution Square. Now training is underway on the territory of the Military Training Centre: the guys are learning how to hold the line beautifully.

Cheburashka and Oranges: SUSU Philosophers Study Fairy Tale Therapy

Meeting within the Lantern and Butterfly Philosophy Club has been held at SUSU. The discussion topic was not quite a usual one – “Fairy Tale Therapy: My Personal Myth in Re-interpretation of the Plot”.

Starting form 2019, the club participants have been monthly meeting to discuss updates in the philosophers’ community. This time the event poster has drawn attention by the picture of a cute Cheburashka with oranges. Why namely this image?

SUSU Students Met with Representatives of Religious Denominations

On March 28th, our students took part in an annual meeting with leaders of traditional faiths to discuss issues of ethics, spiritual, moral and family values in the Russian nation.

The event was organized by the Administration of the city of Chelyabinsk jointly with the Coordination Centre of Chelyabinsk State University on the promotion of social activism among young people, prevention of interethnic and interfaith conflicts, and countering the ideology of terrorism and extremism.

Take Care: Annual Health Day Held at SUSU

This year, as part of the traditional event, SUSU students have had a chance to became blood donors or check their health state by taking rapid testing for HIV/AIDS. The donor centre was opened in the hall of the second floor of the 2nd academic building. This time, 57 university students and staff members have donated their blood.

This is not the first time for SUSU Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs Anton Manuylov to donate blood. This time he also could not stand aside.

SUSU Volunteers Awarded Letters of Acknowledgment from the Rector

The elections of the President of the Russian Federation wrapped up, and so did the work of the situation centre for the elections of the President of Russia, in which SUSU students participated as volunteers.

29 volunteers from different institutes and programmes regularly provided consultations for city residents, students and university staff members. Today they have been awarded letters of acknowledgment from the Rector Alexander Wagner.

Students and staff of the university took part in a festive event dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the entry of the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol into the Russian Federation.

The Recreation Centre of South Ural State University is completing the qualifying rounds of the Spring at SUSU contest.

The qualifying rounds are coming wrapping up, and literally one day remains to demonstrate your talents in the music category.

Spring at SUSU 2024 is one of the stages of the Student Spring of the City of Chelyabinsk – 2024, a city-wise festival of student creativity.

The contest was held in such categories as music, dancing, theatre and original genre (fashion theatre and circus numbers), as well as the Ascending Parnassus literary competition.

Ticket to Crimea: Thematic Exhibition Opened at SUSU

Sun, sea, mountains and Russia! All this has been brought together in Mikhail Gromyko’s photo exhibition called “Crimea”. It should be noted that the exhibition is dedicated to the anniversary of the Crimea's returning to Russia.

Mikhail is a postgraduate of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture and Sports of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service and an active rock climbing instructor at the SUSU Sports Centre. His passion for sports contributed to the creation of his own exhibition.

Youth, Friendship and Media: SUSU Media Centre Held Excursion for Foreign Guests

Foreign guests, who are also participants in the festival, currently most talked about, arrived in Chelyabinsk and straight away went to get acquainted with South Ural State University.

SUSU Association of International Students Held a Lecture for Guests of the World Youth Festival

The final stage of the meeting of guests who came from different parts of the world and had previously visited the World Youth Festival in Sochi was an acquaintance with the activities of the Association of International Students of South Ural State University.

The Executive Director of the Association Dilrabo Tozhikulova addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. She emphasized that the motto of both the festival and the SUSU Association of International Students is to support international and interethnic friendship.

“Language Is a Reflection of the Mentality of People”: Interview for Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day is celebrated worldwide on February 21st. This date was chosen for a reason: students, who protested in defence of their native language, Bengali, were killed by police in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, on February 21, 1952. The students demanded to recognize this language as one of the state languages of the country. Later, on November 17, 1999, this holiday was proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO and has been celebrated annually since 2000.

Lovely Face and Spinal Disc Herniations: Archaeologists from Chelyabinsk Examined a 2000-year-old Burial of a Sarmatian Woman

At the excavations near the city of Magnitogorsk, SUSU archaeologists, in collaboration with the South Urals Foundation, discovered a unique-for-South Urals burial-mounds complex with an ancient tomb of a young woman. The remains were found during the excavations at Kharkovsky I ritual complex in autumn of 2022.

Remembering the Siege of Leningrad

80 years ago, on January 27, 1944, one of the most tragic episodes of the Great Patriotic War ended: as a result of the actions of Soviet troops, the siege of Leningrad, which had lasted almost 900 days, was completely lifted.
